Broadway star Anthony Rapp got engaged to his boyfriend of almost four years Ken Ithipholon in Toronto this Saturday, he shared on Instagram.

‘So something happened tonight. I asked @teerakeni if he would marry me and he said yes,’ wrote Anthony, 48, alongside a picture of him with Ken.

‘I am so very happy and I’m so very thrilled to share this news,’ added the actor, who is also a star on the CBS All Access show Star Trek: Discovery.

Anthony, who had been acting on Broadway since childhood and is best known there for his role in the original cast of Rent, has been with Ken since January 2016.

Ken is a leadership coach who works at Learning Ally, a nonprofit dedicated to audiobooks for people who have reading problems due to medical issues.

Anthony is currently starring on Star Trek: Discovery as Paul Stamets, who is the chief engineer on board the title starship.

The character is the first openly gay man to be portrayed as such on a Star Trek TV show – in the 2016 movie Star Trek: Beyond, Hikari Sulu is shown with a husband.

In late 2017 at the start of the #MeToo movement, Anthony famously claimed he was only 14 years old when actor Kevin Spacey made an advance on him – an incident Kevin has said he does not remember.

Anthony’s account began a wave of accusations against the The Usual Suspects star, who has had a groping case against him thrown out in Massachusetts.

He was still facing a sexual battery and assault charges in California, but the massage therapist who accused him died in September and the case was dismissed.

Scotland Yard have questioned the House Of Cards star about allegations of his sexual misconduct in London but charges have not been formally filed.
