Virginia Roberts’ father says his ‘brave’ daughter is ‘telling the TRUTH’

Virginia Roberts’ father says his ‘brave’ daughter is ‘telling the TRUTH’ about being forced to have sex with Prince Andrew – and that he and ‘most of Britain knows what he REALLY did’

  • Virginia Roberts’ father says he is in ‘no doubt’ that daughter is ‘telling the truth’
  • Sky Roberts hailed her bravery and said he is ‘proud’ of his daughter
  • He said prince knows ‘what he really did’ and ‘most of Britain’ thinks he is lying
  • Ms Roberts claims she was ordered to have sex with the prince while working for Jeffrey Epstein

Virginia Roberts’ father today said he is in ‘no doubt’ that she is ‘telling the truth’ over her claims she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew.

Sky Roberts hailed her daughter’s bravery for coming forward to take on ‘powerful people’ and said he be believes ‘most of Britain’ thinks the Duke of York is lying.

Ms Roberts claims she was ordered to have sex with the prince while working for paedophile billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein as a 17-year-old in 2001.

Mr Roberts told Good Morning Britain: ‘My feelings towards Prince Andrew is that he knows the truth and what he really did.

‘I’ve seen the interviews, him denying everything, apparently he’s not telling the truth and I think most of Britain knows that. I feel so sorry for my daughter for everything she went through.

‘At the time she was going through it, I had no idea. I love my daughter very much. She’s really brave to be going through all of this and to come up against these powerful people.’

Speaking from Florida, the father said he had been tormented by the fact he was the one to have helped Virginia get a job at Mar-a-Lago where he himself worked before Ghislaine Maxwell recruited her to work as a masseuse.

He added: My daughter is, she’s a good girl, she really is. Like I say, I wish I’d known all of this stuff was going on, but I didn’t. As a parent you kind of ask the question, ‘how do you not know your children are doing this?’

‘But she’s a very good actress. When she would come home from these trips she said nothing about it. It must have been killing her inside. But for powerful people like that they can threaten a young girl like that.

‘These girls are young, they really don’t know what’s going on with these powerful people and what they can actually do.

If they’re threatening their mother and father and brothers or whatever that we’re going to take them out or whatever if you say anything then they don’t say anything.

‘I’m just glad she’s out of it and fighting back – we’re very proud of her.’

Mr Roberts added: ‘She has no reason to not tell the truth about this. He has every reason to deny it because him being a Royal and what he’s done.

‘These are young girls, these are kids. He has young daughters, what if it was his daughter that went through this? These powerful people that pick on young girls like this, they should be prosecuted.’

Prince Andrew has strenuously denied the allegations.

Virginia Roberts breaks down during the interview

Tears stream down Roberts' face during the interview

In moving and at times tearful interviews on Monday night, Virginia Roberts also said she is ‘calling BS’ on ‘ridiculous excuses’ from ‘people on the inside’ which seek to rubbish her claim of having had sex with Prince Andrew while a teenager trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein, adding, ‘because that’s what it is’

The interview comes as Prince Andrew faced fresh humiliation last night as it was revealed he sent an email to Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged madam Ghislaine Maxwell at 5.50am to let her know he had ‘specific questions’ about Ms Roberts.

The BBC Panorama investigation uncovered a 2015 email which suggests he asked for Maxwell’s help in responding to Miss Roberts’ claims he had sex with her when she was 17 and a trafficked ‘sex slave’ of Epstein.

As part of the email, the prince asks Maxwell: ‘Let me know when we can talk. Got some specific questions to ask you about Virginia Roberts,’ causing her to respond: ‘Have some info. Call me when you have a moment.’

The correspondence took place on January 3, 2015, days after Andrew was named in US court documents submitted by Miss Roberts as part of a civil lawsuit against her alleged pimp Maxwell.

Miss Roberts was referred to as ‘Jane Doe 3’ in the documents, but Buckingham Palace had been alerted to the fact that she intended to speak publicly about the lawsuit, with the Mail On Sunday revealing her as the anonymous accuser hours later on January 3.

The duke insisted during his own BBC interview last month that he has no memory of meeting Miss Roberts, saying: ‘I have no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever.’

In excruciating detail last night, Miss Roberts, now known as Virginia Giuffre, alleged she was ‘grossed out’ by dancing with the sweat-soaked royal and felt sick at realising she was expected to have sex with him aged 17.

Miss Roberts broke down in tears as she said she was trafficked by Andrew’s friend Jeffrey Epstein and given instructions about the prince by Maxwell, the billionaire paedophile’s then girlfriend.

Andrew has repeatedly and categorically denied having any sexual contact with Miss Roberts – denials she labelled as lies last night.

She said she had felt scared because Andrew and Epstein were powerful, adding: ‘I just didn’t expect it from royalty. I didn’t expect it from someone that people look up to and admire in the Royal Family.’

Describing their alleged sexual encounter, she said: ‘It didn’t last very long, the whole entire procedure. It was disgusting.

‘He wasn’t mean or anything but he got up and said “Thanks” and walked out. I sat there in bed just horrified and ashamed and felt dirty. I had to get up and have a shower.’

Miss Roberts said Miss Maxwell patted her on the back the next day and told her: ‘You made him really happy.’

The scandal has already led to Andrew, 59, being forced to step back from his royal duties.

His accuser, now 35, told Panorama they were introduced in 2001, when she was 17, after allegedly being ‘trafficked’ to Britain on Epstein’s private jet.

She said she was taken to a VIP area in Tramp nightclub in Mayfair, central London, where Andrew bought her vodka and asked her to dance.

Miss Roberts, who claims Miss Maxwell recruited her to work as Epstein’s masseuse when she was 15, said the socialite gave her instructions as they left.

She said: ‘In the car, Ghislaine tells me that I have to do for Andrew what I do for Jeffrey and that just made me sick.’

The married mother of three alleges she and Andrew had sex that night at Miss Maxwell’s home in Belgravia.

Miss Roberts told Panorama: ‘The people on the inside are going to keep coming up with these ridiculous excuses. I mean, come on, I’m calling BS [bulls**t] on this, because that’s what it is. He knows what happened. I know what happened and there’s only one of us telling the truth, and I know that’s me.’

How Duke of York’s meetings with Jeffrey Epstein have brought him decades of trouble since 1990s

– 1990s

Andrew first meets Epstein, reportedly introduced through his friendship with Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of newspaper tycoon Robert Maxwell. Andrew welcomes Epstein to the Queen’s private Scottish retreat in Aberdeenshire. Andrew later says he sees Epstein ‘infrequently’, adding ‘probably no more than only once or twice a year’.

– 2000

Andrew and Ms Maxwell are seen on holiday with Epstein at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida. Epstein and Ms Maxwell attend a party at Windsor Castle hosted by the Queen to mark Andrew’s 40th birthday, the Princess Royal’s 50th, the Queen Mother’s 100th and Princess Margaret’s 70th.

– 2001

Virginia Roberts claims to have had sex with Andrew ‘three times, including one orgy’, with the first encounter allegedly taking place in Ms Maxwell’s London townhouse. Ms Roberts claims to have had sex with Andrew on two more occasions, at Epstein’s New York home and at an ‘orgy’ on his private island in the Caribbean.

– 2008

Epstein admits prostituting minors and is sentenced to 18 months in prison.

– 2010

Epstein is released from jail. Andrew is photographed with the disgraced Epstein in New York’s Central Park. Footage emerges years later, reportedly shot on December 6 2010, showing him inside Epstein’s Manhattan mansion, from where he is seen looking out from a large door of the property waving a woman goodbye after Epstein leaves to get into a chauffeur-driven car.

– 2011

The duke quits his role as UK trade envoy after the fallout from the Central Park photos.

– 2015

Buckingham Palace denies Andrew has committed any impropriety after he is named in US court documents related to Epstein. A woman, later named in reports as Ms Roberts, alleges in papers filed in Florida that she was forced to have sex with Andrew when she was 17, which is under the age of consent in the state.

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Andrew, in his first public engagement since he was embroiled in the allegations, responds, saying: ‘Firstly I think I must, and want, for the record, to refer to the events that have taken place in the last few weeks.

‘I just wish to reiterate, and to reaffirm, the statements that have already been made on my behalf by Buckingham Palace.’ In April the claims against Andrew are struck from US civil court records following a federal judge’s ruling.

– 2019

Newly released legal documents show that Johanna Sjoberg, another alleged Epstein victim, claimed Andrew touched her breast while sitting on a couch inside the US billionaire’s Manhattan apartment in 2001. Buckingham Palace said the allegations are ‘categorically untrue’. Epstein is found dead in his jail cell on August 10, having killed himself after being charged with sex trafficking.

Later that month a pilot on Epstein’s private jet claims Andrew was a passenger on past flights with the financier and Ms Roberts. The Sun newspaper reported that David Rodgers said in a testimony released in August that Epstein, Andrew and the-then 17-year-old travelled to the US Virgin Islands on April 11 2001. Buckingham Palace describes the evidence statement as having ‘a number of inconsistencies’ and said that Andrew was on a different continent in some cases.

Following Epstein’s death, a statement from the palace says that Andrew is ‘appalled by the recent reports of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged crimes’. Breaking his silence on the issue for the first time since 2015, Andrew then releases a statement on August 24 saying: ‘At no stage during the limited time I spent with him (Epstein) did I see, witness or suspect any behaviour of the sort that subsequently led to his arrest and conviction.’

On November 16, the prince gave a ‘disastrous’ BBC interview in which he spoke about his friendship with Epstein and addressed allegations of his own sexual conduct. He faced a barrage of criticism following his television appearance, with the royal accused of a lack of empathy with Epstein’s victims.

During the interview, Andrew, questioned by Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis, twice stated his relationship with Epstein, who died in jail while facing sex trafficking charges, had some ‘seriously beneficial outcomes’, giving him the opportunity to meet people and prepare for a future role as a trade envoy. The duke denied he slept with Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s victims, on three separate occasions, twice while she was underage, saying one encounter in 2001 did not happen as he spent the day with his daughter Princess Beatrice, taking her to Pizza Express in Woking for a party.

The same alleged sexual liaison, which the American said began with the royal sweating heavily as they danced at London nightclub Tramp, was factually wrong as the duke said he had a medical condition at the time which meant he did not sweat. He cast doubt on the authenticity of a picture that appears to show Andrew with his arm around the waist of Mrs Giuffre, when a teenager.
