DJ Khaled ‘threatens to slap Billboard Chart with lawsuit over discounted Father Of Asahd album sales that cost him No. 1 spot’

Coming in at No. 2 isn’t sitting well with DJ Khaled.

The 43-year-old entertainer is threatening to file a lawsuit against the Billboard Chart, alleging that the organization wrongly discounted 100,000 sales of his latest album Father Of Asahd, according to Page Six

As a result his new release fell short of the No. 1 spot which went to Tyler, The Creator’s IGOR.

Furious! DJ Khaled is threatening to file a lawsuit against Billboard Chart over discounted sales of his new album Father Of Asahd

Khaled maintains Billboard discounted downloads sold by the DJ and producer as part of a bundle deal with an energy drink.

Bundle deals, where albums are offered with merchandise, have become more of a standard practice to increase sales over the years.

Billboard reportedly agreed to count the downloads from the promotion, which would have given Khaled the top spot on the charts, but later rescinded the sales to the final tally, citing ‘anomalies’ in his figures.

Their decision was actually based on chart rules following talks with DJ Khaled‘s management, Sony Records and Nielsen.

Page Six is reporting that Khaled’s legal team have issued a letter to Silvio Pietroluongo, Billboard’s Senior Vice President of charts and data development, threatening to sue.

‘When Khaled’s team tried to appeal, Billboard refused to budge, a DJ Khlad source said, adding that the situation was all the more unjust because Tyler, the Creator’s bundle deal figures were included in his total sales.

On May 30, Billboard announced Tyler debuted at No. 1 with 165,000 albums sold, with Khaled at No. 2 at 137,000.

His Father of Asahd album features appearances from Cardi B, SZA, Beyonce, Jay Z, Justin Bieber, and more.
