Bam Margera’s family says the star’s recent string of scandals and breakdowns is because he stopped taking his medication for Bipolar disorder.

The former MTV star, 39, was arrested on early Wednesday following a drunken incident at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel and according to sources who spoke to TMZ, his erratic behavior isn’t out of nowhere.

Although he’d previously reached out to ask Dr. Phil to help him with his troubles, the 39-year-old The Jackass star didn’t seemed worried about his legal woes after getting released from LA jail on Wednesday.

The Pennsylvania native smiled as he smoked a cigarette outside of the jailhouse while waiting for friends to pick him up.

Though he looked like he was in high spirits, family said they are concerned for the star since he ceased taking his medication.

Dr. Phil McGraw, who helped Bam with an emergency therapy session after he plead for help on Instagram earlier this month, told TMZ he had his ‘fingers crossed’ for the troubled star.

‘I hope he can resume treatment,’ McGraw told the outlet, ‘My attitude is NEVER surrender to the disease. It is a tug of war and you just can’t ever drop your end of the rope.’

‘Bam is such a charming, hard working and talented guy. You can’t help but like and pull for him. Fingers crossed.

Bam – birth name Brandon Cole Margera – was taken into custody on early Wednesday AM following a drunken rant when he refused to leave a Los Angeles hotel after he was told there were no rooms available.

Margera is said to have demanded a room and when he was told by staff that nothing was available, he refused to leave the premises until he got one which prompted an employee to call to cops.

Authorities said they found the skateboarder in a ‘highly-intoxicated’ state and took him into custody around midnight.

The outlet reported that the troubled celebrity was officially booked around 2:30AM and ‘charged with a misdemeanor trespassing and is currently being held on $1,000 bail.’

In video from the incident the stubborn star is seen sitting on the floor while he refuses orders from the authorities.

Bam is nearly incoherent in the clip, sitting cross legged on the floor in a T-shirt and shorts slurring his words while telling police that he knows they want to ‘beat him up so bad.’

After calling someone off camera a ‘piece of s**t,’ a female officer can be heard telling him he’s a ‘grown adult’ and needs to ‘start acting like one.’

‘This is embarrassing,’ she says. ‘Not for me. For you.’

Bam then tries to reason with the officer and agrees to leave if he gets his phone back.

‘If you don’t give it, I keep doing this,’ he says defiantly on the tiled floor.

He then launches into a hard to believe story about being ‘hired for $100,000’ to catch someone cheating on his wife.

Bam points at an unidentified male watching the scene play out calling him a ‘piece of s**t’ and alleging that the man’s wife hired the reality star.

‘I hope you rough me the f**k up,’ Bam shouts at the officer.

She responds: ‘This is not a f**king reality TV show. I know you’re fresh out of rehab, so let’s get your s**t together.’

This recent tirade comes not long after the After Jackass asked for Dr. Phil’s help earlier this month in a rambling Instagram clip.

Bam explained to the TV doc in the social media post that he was going through serious family problems.

In the video he jumped from topic to topic, calling out his mom at one point and also verbally haranguing his wife Nikki, the mother of his only child.

This comes after the professional prankster plead for help from TV doctor Dr. Phil in an almost incoherent social media video earlier this month.

‘Dr. Phil I need your help in a big, big way,’ the MTV alum said in the clip posted to Instagram which looked to have been shot in a hotel room.

Dr. Phil later sat with the star for an emergency therapy session and got him to agree to go to rehab but ultimately it appears that Bam abandoned the plan.

Sources claimed that the three-hour session with the famed talk show host was a ‘very emotional sit-down,’ with Margera tearing up several times.

The session came to a ‘boiling point,’ however, when the therapist brought in Nikki, who Bam confronted about her ‘extreme stubbornness’ and whom he shares a year and a half old son Phoenix Wolf with.

Over the years the Viva La Bam star has struggled with alcoholism. He was hospitalized back in 2009 following several days of binge drinking and entered rehab for the first time later that year, staying only a few days.

His struggle with substance abused worsened following the death of friend Ryan Dunn in 2011.

Over the years Bam has unsuccessfully checked into various facilities to treat his alcoholism, often leaving before the completion of the programs.

The star enjoyed a brief seven-month period of sobriety in 2018 after getting a DUI but relapsed when he was robbed at gun point later that year.
