Paris Hilton pays tribute to her grandfather Barron Hilton after the former Hilton Hotels CEO passed away at the age of 91: ‘I always wanted to make him proud’

The former CEO of Hilton Hotels and founding owner of the Los Angeles Chargers professional football team, Barron Hilton, passed away on Thursday at the age of 91.

One day later, and Paris Hilton took to Instagram to pay tribute her grandfather.

‘I am deeply saddened by the loss of my grandfather Barron Hilton,’ she began in the caption of a series of family photos.

‘He was a Legend, a visionary, brilliant, handsome, kind and lived a life full of accomplishment and adventure.’

‘Ever since I was a little girl I have looked up to him as a businessman. I feel so grateful to have had such an incredible mentor. 

She added: I always wanted to make him proud.’

‘The last conversation we had a few days ago I told him how much of an impact he had on my life. His spirit, heart and legacy will live on in me.’

Barron Hilton died from natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, according to a press release from the family’s Conrad Hilton Foundation.

He served in the Navy and spent 20 years as an entrepreneur before taking over as chairman and CEO of Hilton Hotels Corporation in 1966.

During his three decades running the family business, he was credited with expanding the empire with a series of lucrative real estate acquisitions and mergers.

Hilton was also the founding owner of the Los Angeles Chargers of the NFL, when he bought the franchise for $25,000. and was instrumental in conceiving the team’s iconic lightning bolt logo.

He would go on to sell the team in 1966 in order to take over Hilton Hotels. 

Also known for his philanthropy, Barron Hilton leaves behind eight children, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
