Katy Perry reveals the animated final video for her bubbly single Smile… after sharing a more minimal clip last month

Katy Perry released the newest video for her single Smile to Facebook on Thursday.

The charming video features a pregnant performer playing a carnival-themed video game with animated CGI sequences.

The 35-year-old pop star previously released a more low-budget ‘Performance’ video in July, though the newest video is her final word on the bubbly song.

Second try: Katy Perry, 35, released the final video for her single Smile after sharing more minimal clip back in July

Rather than posting the new video to YouTube, Katy directed her fans to her Facebook page, where she shared the full video.

‘Here to serve u this morning (with first lewks and [pie emoji]) Watch the official #SMILE video here on the Facebook app and let me know what u think, I’ll be [eyeballs emoji] in the comments.’

The video opens with Katy dressed in a black and white Harlequin-like suit that swells with her growing baby bump while she puts the final touches on a delicious pie in the kitchen.

As she is about to settle in to devour the pie, she notices a laptop set up in her living room with a ‘Smile’ computer game playing.

Katy’s clown avatar is shown in a variety of vignettes, some of which seem to have romantic meaning, while when she knocks out a wolfman with one of her juggling balls, only to strike up a relationship with him afterward.

She also goes through other carnivalesque attractions, like competing in a strongman competition and being tied to a rotating board while having knives thrown at her.

Despite being the sad clown, Katy’s nothing but smiles by the end, when her animated character has a dance party with the other circus performers and real-life Katy smashes a cream pie into her face.

On July 14, Katy released an earlier ‘Performance’ video which featured only herself performing against a mostly white minimalist set.

After a fan commented on her Instagram post announcing the video ask what a ‘Performance’ video was, the California Gurls singer replied, ‘just that there is more to come.’

On Wednesday, a Los Angeles Times profile of Katy delved into her working environment in recent weeks.

The singer has been filming her videos in a warehouse in Burbank with a 10-person crew who are repeatedly tested for COVID-19.

In both of her recent Smile video, Katy was the only person on camera in order to  decrease the risk to her.

She seemed excited about the new album, which she described in ebullient terms.

‘It’s an upbeat record. The tones are very hopeful and resilient and joyful, and I hope that it can ignite that in anyone who is listening,’ she said.

Katy also accepted the possibility that her most successful music might already be behind her.

‘I’m thankful that I’m out of the loop of how intense it is to be red hot for 10 years,’ she said. ‘Because I’ve had all the numbers, honey. Still set those records, honey. Talk to me when you’ve done that. Do I need to keep ringing that bell, or can I start ringing others?’

Her upcoming Smile album is set to be released on August 28.
