    BREAKING NEWS: Crowds to return to football – Three Championship games will host 1,000 fans each this weekend as Luton, Norwich and Middlesbrough are allowed to open doors despite the nation’s ‘rule of six’ crackdown

    The EFL has confirmed 10 matches across its three divisions will go ahead with up to 1,000 fans in attendance this weekend despite lockdown measures increasing across the country.

    Norwich, Middlesbrough and Luton are among the venues that will allow spectators in the latest stage of the process to returns crowds to sport amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

    It follows a successful pilot event at the EFL Trophy fixture between Cambridge United and Fulham under 21 last week.

    The 10 pilot games in the EFL will do ahead this Saturday despite the latest Government crackdown that prohibits gatherings in groups of more than six.

    Three games have been picked in the Sky Bet Championship – Luton Town vs Derby County at Kenilworth Road, Norwich City vs Preston North End at Carrow Road and Middlesbrough vs Bournemouth at the Riverside Stadium.

    The League One matches at Charlton, Blackpool, Shrewsbury Town and Hull City, plus the League Two games at Forest Green Rovers, Carlisle United and Morecambe, have also been selected.
