Eager parents show off the decorative trees they started putting up in SEPTEMBER

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Eager parents show off the decorative trees they started putting up in SEPTEMBER – as some say it’s too early for holiday cheer

    • A host of Australian parents are already putting up their Christmas trees & decor
    • In what has been one of the toughest years for some lives, they want some cheer
    • Towering trees, decorated fireplaces, stockings and wreaths are being used
    • Many retailers are already beginning to sell Christmas ornaments in stores
    • Some have argued that starting three months early is ‘too soon’ overall

In what has been one of the toughest years in some families’ lives, Australians have decided to lift their spirits by decorating for Christmas three months early – but not everyone agrees with the sentiment.

A host of parents have started sharing photos of their six foot towering trees on Facebook, complete with decorative baubles, matching reindeer statues and stockings for each child.

On September 30 one woman wrote: ‘Well I posted on my page saying that I was getting a little excited for Christmas and after the crappy year we had I thought I’d start early, but so many “friends” proceeded to give me their unwanted opinions about how crazy I am’

‘First tree up and several rooms to go.’

A Queenslander took to social media to share her incredible living room filled with Christmas-related paraphernalia, saying that it took her a fortnight to put together

'The inside is finished! It has taken me two weeks to do but I'm so happy. I won't start the outside and back deck until December 1 so things don't fade in our Queensland heat,' she said on October 4

On October 1 a number of other Christmas lovers followed suit with their own designs, saying ‘our tree is up although hubby isn’t happy about it’ and ‘early? Said no one ever!’

‘Okay I decided to put my new Christmas tree up much to my husband’s disbelief… he was super quiet during the erection process,’ said one woman on October 2.

‘He did help though and his only comment was “are you just looking at it or keeping it up?”. My answer was “keeping it up”. It’s staying naked for a while as I like to rest my trees before decorating it. Also I have a bad hand so it takes its toll on me and I have six big trees to put up. That is going to take a while.’

‘This is my 2020 tree! Time for some sparkle and cheer in this difficult year,’ said another lady on October 3.

There has been an outpouring of excitement from those who believe September and early October is the perfect time to start preparing for the holiday season.

‘I think we need a bit happiness and joy after the year that has been. We move house in two weeks. Mine will all be coming out of storage then and going up. We do Christmas lights and a friend of mine said my street goes nuts with decorating so clearly I will fit in well,’ said one person.

Others were inclined to leave the decorating until late November or December 1 and said they ‘couldn’t believe’ how early people were starting.

‘What happened to the December 1 tradition?’ One woman said.

‘I don’t have the energy to start now… definitely holding off a little while longer,’ said another.
