A man has been left in a critical condition after he was stabbed at a 7-Eleven in a ‘random attack’ near a popular holiday spot.
The 28-year-old suffered a stab wound to his shoulder at the service station in Long Jetty on New South Wales’ Central Coast at about 4am on Monday morning.
A group were seen running from the area before officers arrived at the scene, NSW Police said.

The man was treated at the scene before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in a critical condition.
‘A search of the area has commenced, and inquiries are continuing,’ a NSW Police spokesperson said.
Detective Acting Inspector Craig Vanderwolf said the stabbing victim is underdoing surgery, Nine News reported.
‘It appears to have been a random attack at this stage,’ he said.
It’s understood there was a verbal altercation before the stabbing.

‘It appears the party was on foot and were last seen running towards the lake,’ Detective Acting Inspector Vanderwolf said.
The group are understood to be aged in their 20s. The service station worker was not harmed in the incident.
