    Instead of licking your fingertips to separate fruit and vegetable bags at the supermarket, a clever Australian mother-of-two has shared her simple solution.

    Posting in the Aldi Mums Facebook group, Kristy, from Victoria, said she uses the hand sanitiser wipes to add moisture to her fingertips and open the fiddly plastic bags instantly. 

    ‘If anyone struggles to open the produce bags like me, I’ve found a solution,’ she said.

    ‘On your way in, tie one of the sanitiser wipes to your trolley to moisten your fingertips! It’s so much easier than the ten-minute workout it usually takes to get them open.’ 

    An Australian mum-of-two has shared a clever way to quickly open pesky fruit and vegetable bags at supermarkets 

    The savvy idea swiftly caught the attention of other shoppers part of the Facebook community and was ‘liked’ more than 2,000 times.

    ‘I struggle with this all the time so thank you!’ one customer said.

    ‘OMG you win at life! Awesome tip,’ another said.

    A third added: ‘What a great idea! I never thought to do that.’

    Others said they thought of the same idea but use the hand sanitising gel instead to open the bags quickly.

    The idea encourages customers to sanitise their hands, trolley and basket when going to the supermarket to kill any germs. 

    The tactic will also work when opening regular plastic shopping bags. 

    Others suggested purchasing sustainable bags or reusing the plastic fruit and vegetable bags. 

    Another woman said: ‘Use reusable and washable mesh bags, less plastic, I purchased mine on eBay.’
