Paul Burrell predicts Prince Harry and Meghan will do Panorama style interview

Paul Burrell claims it’s ‘only a matter of time’ before Prince Harry and Meghan do a ‘major TV interview’ in the US similar to Princess Diana’s Panorama appearance

    • Princess Diana’s former butler Paul, 62, believes Prince Harry will return to UK
    • Believes Duke of Sussex is ‘besotted’ with Meghan who ‘can’t do anything wrong’
    • Says pair will follow in mother’s footsteps with Diana’s Panorama 1995 interview

Princess Diana‘s butler Paul Burrell says it’s ‘only a matter of time’ before Prince Harry and Meghan give a ‘major exposé’, similar to his late mother’s infamous Panorama interview.

The former servant to the royal household, 62, appeared on Lorraine this morning, where he told that Harry, 36, is being ‘led down Meghan’s path’ because he is so ‘besotted with her’ he feels she can ‘do no wrong’.

He believes that the Duke of Sussex will eventually return to the UK, unable to ‘stand’ being away from his ‘friends family and culture’ – but thinks the Prince and Megan, 39, will first give a tell-all US interview, similar to that of the Princess of Wales in 1995.

In her explosive interview, which was watched by 21 million people when it aired, the late Princess spoke candidly about her and her husband’s extra-marital affairs, and questioned Prince Charles ’s suitability to be King.

When asked whether he thinks Meghan and Diana are similar, he said: ‘I think they’re different women of different times.

‘Meghan is of now, Diana was of then, and they were very different times. Meghan is a modern woman with modern ideas and they’ll do things very differently.

‘They’re ramping up one more stage, because they’re going into Netflix and I can see Harry and Megan on Netflix at home, that would be a show.

‘It’s only a matter of time before they give a major interview to someone in the US and do a similar interview for the world.’

Princes Harry and William will meet to unveil a of their late mother at Kensington Palace in July next year, on what would have been her 60th birthday, and Paul predicted the meeting will help repair their relationship.

‘The boys will be brought together again by their mother,’ said Paul, ‘And I’m hoping from then on we can see an end to this spat.

‘But it happens in all families up and down the country, people are saying now “My son married a strong independent woman who led him on a different path”. That’s exactly what happened to Harry.

‘He’s married this woman who has ideas of her own, he is so besotted by her and in love with her that she can’t do anything wrong, now he’s being led along her path.

He went on: ‘It won’t always be that way, because I can’t see him happy in Los Angeles, all his friends his family and his culture are back here in England.

‘He won’t stand that forever, he’s not that sort of boy. He’s going to want to come back to his family and his brother will embrace him back into the fold.’

The interview that ‘ostracised’ Diana from the royal establishment, will be re-broadcast this autumn in a new Channel 4 documentary, and Paul admitted that it ‘still bothers him to a great degree’ to hear the late Princess’ voice.

‘Watching the princess and hearing her speak still bothers me to a great degree, said Paul, I sill miss her today. That was a huge moment in television history, it was a time royals didn’t speak out and she wore her heart on her sleeve.

‘The palace were furious and from that moment she was ostracised by the royal establishment, she was out there on her own.’

It was revealed this week that Paul played a role in bringing broadcaster Martin Bashir into her residence, smuggling him into Kensington Palace under a blanket ahead of the interview so he could meet Diana.

‘You know history has now told you she was hurting,  said Paul, She was a vulnerable fragile woman and it was planned, over months.

‘I later learned that the princess told him everything she would like to say in the  interview and he fixed the questions around her answers.’

He admitted that even Diana herself felt she had gone to far in the interview, worried about what Harry and William would think after admitting she was in love with James Hewitt.

He stressed that the 'void' that has risen between Harry and William would have been resolved by Diana, who would have 'banged their heads together' and tell them they were 'being silly'

‘She wished she hadn’t said so much she said to me once’, said Paul, ‘She feared what the boys would think and the reaction from them.

‘They were children an to hear her say, yes she was in love with James Hewitt and she adored him, that would have repercussions. She loved her boys they were the center of her life, nothing came before her children.’

He stressed that the ‘void’ that has risen between Harry and William would have been resolved by Diana, who would have ‘banged their heads together’ and tell them they were ‘being silly’.

‘There’s a void that has opened between the two’, told Paul, ‘And it should be filled by her mother, who would probably bang their heads together and say “Don’t be so silly”.

‘She treated them the same, she knew one would be king, but she treated them the same. They were her boys.’
