Mum reveals her VERY simple trick for banishing stubborn shower screen stains – and the sparkling results speak for themselves

    • An Australian woman has shared how she removed the scum from her shower
    • Mum Julie said she uses the $4 Jif Cream Cleaner and a damp cloth
    • She shared the impressive result on Facebook and wowed hundreds of others
    • The product can be bought from leading supermarkets

While many struggle to remove water stains and soap scum from the bathroom shower screen without leaving streaks, an Australian mum has revealed her very simple ‘go-to’ method.

Julie, from Melbourne, shared impressive before and after photos to the Mums Who Clean Facebook group where she revealed she used the $4 Jif Cream Cleaner to clean her bathroom in a matter of minutes.

‘I know there have been several posts on cleaning shower screens, so this is my contribution. Jif, can’t say that other brands work as well,’ she said.

To remove the shower marks, Julie used a damp cloth with a tiny squirt of Jif and ‘a little elbow juice’.

‘Dip your cloth in clean water and go over then grab either micro fibre, an old towel or even thick paper towels to dry and buff to a mirror finish,’ she said.

Julie said the cloth should run smoothly across the glass once all the scum has been removed.

‘When scummy, your cloth feels hard to rub. When the scum has moved, your cloth skims over the glass,’ she said.

‘Same goes for when you use the Jif on other surfaces such as baths, shower floors, sinks and other surfaces.’

The simple cleaning trick impressed hundreds of people online, and many were eager to try it.

Some also shared their product recommendations and suggested Bar Keepers Friend, Domestos cleaner, Windex spray and a shower squeegee.

‘Good stuff but takes a lot of rinsing down. I use a short-handled scrubber which makes life easier,’ one woman said.

‘I use Domestos, soapy steel wool then rinse, vinegar and glass microfibres cloth. Works like magic,’ another said.

A third agreed and said: ‘I second this, I’ve always been using Jif and a bit of Domestos gel with a scourer from Coles.’

The product can be bought from leading supermarkets, including Woolworths and Coles.

Prior to starting the cleaning transformation, be sure to use a small amount of water before applying to a surface.
