‘I’m the guy who king hit you’: Pubgoer is left with horrific injuries after being ‘glassed from behind while playing the pokies’

A pubgoer has been left with horrific injuries after allegedly being glassed from behind while playing on the pokies.
Dominic Ryan, 54, claimed he was using the poker machines at Nerang RSL, on the Gold Coast, when another man, 35, reportedly attacked him at about 9.30pm on Friday.
Mr Ryan was left with eight stitches in his cheek and claimed the same man had assaulted him just weeks earlier.
‘I first saw this man two weeks ago and I must have looked at him the wrong way because he king hit me,’ Mr Ryan told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

The 54-year-old did not report their first interaction to police and said the 35-year-old approached him inside the pub on Friday.
‘He came over to me… and said “do you remember me?”. I said “nah mate” and he said “I’m the guy who king hit you and I’m going to do it again”,’ Mr Ryan said.
Mr Ryan explained he then stood up to move his chair back and was glassed on his left cheek as he turned around.
‘All I remember was a glass coming straight at me. I went down and when I got back up he had taken off. He ran out like a bat out of hell,’ Mr Ryan said.
The 54-year-old was taken to Robina Hospital where he received the stitches and police detectives photographed his injuries.
Mr Ryan also said the alleged attack had made his eye to go black and caused several cuts to his head.
Queensland Police said the 35-year-old attacker fled from Nerang RSL (pictured) and was found at a nearby home. He was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and wounding
He intends to seek legal advice over the incident.
Queensland Police confirmed the incident had occurred and alleged the two men had a verbal interaction.
Police said the 35-year-old man from Nerang allegedly assaulted Mr Ryan before smashing a glass on his cheek.
The 35-year-old then allegedly left the premises and was found at a nearby home.
He was charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of wounding.
The 35-year-old was set to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on October 30.
