Roberts recently revealed that she blocked her mother, Kelly Cunningham, on Instagram after she accidentally confirmed the screen star’s pregnancy.
The actress is currently expecting her first child with her boyfriend Hedlund, 36, but didn’t get to reveal the good news herself, as her mother was the one who told her fans through her Instagram account.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, Emma recalled: ‘I was keeping my pregnancy pretty low key, but unfortunately my mother has Instagram.’

‘Which, mothers and Instagram, it’s a bad combination. She definitely spilled the beans. [Buying her an iPhone was] the worst thing I ever did.
‘It started slow with a Google Alert on me, which she never had before, so she’s like, “Emma have you seen this photo from 2010?!” I’m like, “Yes, I’ve seen that photo.”
‘So I’m getting flooded with “Is this true?” and “Have you seen this and that?” And then she got Instagram.’

The American Horror Story actress first had the news broken by a news outlet, and said Kelly thought the article was her daughter confirming the news, so assumed it was safe to post about it on social media.
She added: ‘It led to interacting with my fans and just thanking them for all their pregnancy wishes. It was a disaster, and I found it all out on a plane, so I couldn’t get to her. I couldn’t call her or attack her.
‘She was like, ‘Thank you so much for the well-wishes! We’re so excited.’ It was endless. My friends were sending me screen grabs. It was unbelievable.
‘When I said to her, “Mom, you revealed my pregnancy.” She goes, “Emma, you announced it!” And I said, “No I didn’t. That was a tabloid.” She goes, “Oh I didn’t … that wasn’t clear.”‘

And to teach her actress mother a lesson, Emma even blocked her on the photo sharing app. She quipped: “We kind of laughed. We kind of got into a fight. I blocked her at one point. [But it’s a] good story to tell the baby.’
Emma also revealed she and Garrett have picked out some possible names for their baby – who will be a boy – but played coy about details on the monikers.
The Scream Queens star told host Jimmy Kimmel: ‘I was convinced I was having a girl to a point where I said to my boyfriend, “If it’s a boy you can name it.”
‘Meanwhile being like, it’s a girl, who cares? Now I get to name it. Then when we found out, he was like, “Oh yeah, so you said I get to name it!” And I was like, “I did say that, didn’t I? So funny that I said that.”

‘My boyfriend was playing very hard to get with me about the names. I was like, ‘We’re having a baby. You can tell me what you want to name the baby.’
‘And he was just very tight-lipped and then he did finally, he came up with a winner that was really good. All of mine got vetoed for various reasons, which I’m very upset about.’
Emma eventually publicly confirmed her pregnancy in August, when she took to Instagram to share the joyous news.
The actress was first reported to be pregnant back in June, but Emma’s post was the first time she confirmed the news.

The niece of Julia Roberts was first linked to Garrett back in March 2019.
The two had been friends prior to dating, but a source described the relationship at the time as ‘casual’ and ‘just a couple of weeks old’ to Us Weekly.
Prior to her new romance, Emma was in a seven-year on–off relationship with her American Horror Story co-star Evan Peters, 33.
A source told Us Weekly at the time that it was not an amicable breakup and that they were now ‘just friends’.
Garrett had previously been with Kirsten Dunst, 38, though they broke up in 2016 after more than four years together.
