Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis who played Neville Longbottom looks hot on Australian television

Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis looks worlds away from his days playing nerdy Neville Longbottom during a rare Australian television interview

He famously played gawky young wizard Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter film series, before sending fans wild with his hunky transformation years later.

And Matthew Lewis, 31, proved he’s still looking as handsome as ever after surfacing on Australian television for an interview with Nine’s Today Extra on Wednesday.

The British actor looked worlds away from his days playing buck-toothed Neville as he chatted to hosts David Campbell and Sylvia Jeffreys via video link.

During the interview, Matthew discussed what it was like to grow up playing Neville, and how he was forced to wear false teeth and a fat suit to make himself appear uglier in the later Harry Potter films

What a glow-up! Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis, 31, was interviewed on Nine’s Today Extra on Wednesday (right) – years after playing nerdy Neville Longbottom (left) in the hit films

During the interview, Matthew discussed what it was like to grow up playing Neville, and how he was forced to wear false teeth and a fat suit to make himself appear uglier in the later Harry Potter films.

‘I didn’t wear anything [prosthetic] in the first couple of films. And then I think I came back from, like a growth spurt in film three and [the producers] said, “Okay, we’ll have to do something about this.”‘

‘And that’s when they came up with the idea of the false teeth and bits of plastic to stick my ears out and a fat suit I had to wear for several years,’ he added.

Matthew also revealed he was still close friends with his former castmates, after the last Harry Potter film was released nine years ago.

While there has been no official word about a cast reunion, Matthew said that he and his co-stars would be very interested in participating.

‘I’m almost certain that if the question was posed to anyone, we’d be very, very interested in the idea,’ he said.
