He’s lovin’ it! Mother details how she slyly packages her picky son’s food in a McDonald’s ‘Happy Meal’ box to trick the two-year-old into eating it

A mother has revealed how she tricks her picky two-year-old son into eating the food she makes him by putting it in a McDonald’s ‘Happy Meal’ box.

Lauren Jorgensen, 31, from Long Island, New York, shared a TikTok video of herself packing up plant-based nuggets, apple slices, and baked fries — just like they do at the fast-food chain — and presenting it to her son Weston.

‘Every day it’s up in the air and as a parent, you want your kids to eat,’ she told Good Morning America. ‘If he sees it in the little red box of happiness, maybe he’ll be willing to try.’

Surprise! Lauren Jorgensen, 31, from Long Island, New York, revealed she tricks her two-year-old son Weston into eating the food she makes by putting it in a McDonald’s ‘Happy Meal’ box

Lauren explained that Weston used to be a ‘fabulous’ eater, but now that he is a toddler, he has no interest in trying new things. He even shuns foods he used to like.

‘I’ve tried to sneak veggies in, smoothies, add sprinkles, cut it into fun shapes — the answer is always the same, “No. I don’t want to, Mama,”‘ she said.

Like most kids his age, Weston developed a hankering for chicken nuggets and fries. To ensure that he was getting enough protein, she started buying him plant-based nuggets.

However, one busy day, Lauren ended up grabbing her son a chicken nuggets meal from McDonald’s, which turned out to be a ‘fatal mistake.’

Ever since then, Weston only wants nuggets from McDonald’s, prompting Lauren to start stashing the fast-food giant’s Happy Meal boxes and packaging. Whenever he is being particularly fussy, she’ll make him her version of a Happy Meal.

Lauren cuts up apple slices the same way McDonald’s does and puts them in one of the chain’s plastic bags.

She then adds plant-based nuggets to a leftover cardboard container and places everything in a Happy Meal box.

If Weston finishes what she made him, she will give him baked fries, which she puts in a McDonald’s french fry holder.

The mom told GMA that she was inspired to share her ‘McDonald’s dupe’ on TikTok after more than 800,000 users watched a video of her trying to give Weston a waffle with yogurt on top to no avail.

Lauren also shared her trick on Facebook, where many parents were impressed by her ingenuity.

And while it definitely seems to work, she stressed that she only pulls out the McDonald’s boxes when Weston is being particularly fussy.

She plans on adding grapes and carrot sticks to the meal next time she needs it to see how it goes.
