Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce set to SHARE sparring partners, with Solomon Dacres signing to Juggernaut’s S-Jam management before helping Triple D prepare for all-British clash

    • Daniel Dubois faces his toughest test yet against Joe Joyce on November 28
    • Highly-rated amateur Soloman Dacres was helping Dubois prepare last week
    • The Brit was involved in ‘Triple D’s’ camp despite being signed to Joyce’s S-Jam
    • Dacres will switch sides to join ‘Juggernaut’s camp for sparring this week

Daniel Dubois’ all-British heavyweight showdown with Joe Joyce has taken an intriguing twist after Dubois’ sparring partner Solomon Dacres signed with Joyce’s management team before joining up with the rival camp.

Dacres, an amateur who has been around the Great Britain squad for three years, has signed a deal with S-Jam Boxing ahead of a move into the professional game.

The 6ft 5ins, 26-year-old heavyweight spent the last week sparring with the unbeaten Dubois.

Next week, though, he will switch camps to help Joyce prepare for the rescheduled clash on November 28.

The move comes as Dacres prepares to enter the paid ranks, with his debut slated for early 2021.

Dacres has also been a regular sparring partner for heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in the past.

His new co-manager Adam Morallee said: ‘Sol is a world class talent who we have been keeping an eye on for some time.

‘He has the pedigree, the strength and most importantly the mindset to succeed at the highest level of professional boxing.

Joyce is set to be the toughest challenge yet for 23-year-old unbeaten Dubois next month

‘We look forward to helping Sol achieve his goals together with a promoter who can put him on the stage his talent deserves.’

Sam Jones of S-Jam Boxing added: ‘We are very excited about Sol – he’s tenacious strong and has very fast hands.

‘He’s got every ingredient to get to the very top of the heavyweight division…. Sol is currently in camp with Dubois which is very interesting as he’ll be coming to spar Joe next week.’

Dubois, 23, has been tipped as a future star of heavyweight boxing. But on November 28 he faces by far the biggest challenge of his fledgling career, with 35-year-old Joyce enjoying a long and decorated amateur stint before embarking on his own unbeaten professional journey.
