AFL superstar Dustin Martin partied shirtless after Grand Final victory

Dustin Martin goes shirtless as he leads Tigers players on a VERY long Grand Final celebration – after leaving his car at the MCG for two months during 2019 premiership shenanigans

Richmond Tigers superstar Dustin Martin left his car to collect dust for two months at the MCG after winning the AFL premiership last year.

And it looks like the 29-year-old hasn’t mellowed out in the 12 months since.

The superstar midfielder began celebrating his team’s third Grand Final win in four years at the team hotel on the Gold Coast after the game on Saturday, and was still going by Sunday night.

Martin, who kicked four goals and gathered 21 disposals, had plenty to celebrate as he made history when he became the first player to be awarded the Norm Smith Medal on three occasions.

The Sunday afternoon celebrations were described as ‘loose’ by fans who watched the players partying via social media.

Some players went on to party on the Gold Coast’s Glitter Strip after the festivities tapered off in the team hotel.

Martin has decided to stay on in Queensland after the season ended after growing fond of the Sunshine State during his months-long stay to keep the AFL season alive.

The Grand Final was played at the Gabba in Brisbane, away from Melbourne for the first time in its history after Victoria was unable to get its second wave of COVID-19 under control.

Players and officials were part of a COVID-safe bubble to ensure the league could continue through the health crisis.

The Tigers overcame the Cats 81 to 50 after an incredible come-back in the third quarter and heroic efforts from fan-favourite Martin.

The 29-year-old thanked the AFL, Toyota, the government and Richmond Football Club while receiving his third Norm Smith Medal.

‘First of all, I would just like to thank Geelong for an awesome game,’ he said.

‘You’re an awesome club. Well done to Gaz (Gary Ablett) on your unbelievable career. To the AFL, Toyota, the government, last but not least, the Richmond footy club. Let’s go.’

The Tigers are back-to-back premiers after defeating the GWS Giants last year. They were also triumphant over Adelaide Football Club in 2017.

In 2019, Martin ditched his car at the Melbourne Cricket Ground after his team’s victory over the Giants.

The MCG allowed the star to leave his car there from the September 28 game through to the end of the year after he ran out of time to collect it between celebrating the win and boarding a plan to Las Vegas for a post-season holiday.
