SAS Australia: Candice Warner says former friend Roxy Jacenko ‘couldn’t land a punch’

Candice Warner’s BRUTAL sledge: Ironwoman says former friend Roxy Jacenko ‘couldn’t land a punch’ during their boxing match on SAS Australia as she reveals the truth about their feud

Candice Warner has revealed what really went down between herself and Roxy Jacenko during their boxing match on SAS Australia last week.

Appearing on Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa show on Tuesday, Candice said Roxy ‘couldn’t land a punch’ during their fight and admitted she was ‘shocked’ when the publicist subsequently ended their friendship.

‘Let’s just say we know what we were getting ourselves into and there was an opportunity before the fight to pull out,’ the former Ironwoman, 35, explained.

‘At that moment if we wanted to we could say, “No, we don’t want to do this,” but we both chose to glove up, put the helmet on,’ she added.

Radio host Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald then pointed out that Roxy had said on radio last week that she’d walked away from the show after the boxing match because she didn’t want to punch her friend in the face ‘for entertainment’.

After hearing an audio clip of Roxy discussing the clash, Candice said bluntly: ‘She tried to but she couldn’t land a punch. That’s the honest truth.’

Candice also revealed that she apologised to Roxy at the time, but admitted it was difficult to speak freely with the strict SAS directing staff watching their every move.

‘I did apologise but it didn’t go to air. I was shocked by her comments and I’m really sorry that she feels that way,’ she added.

When asked if she and Roxy were still on speaking terms, Candice curtly responded: ‘Apparently not.’

Last Tuesday, Roxy officially ended her friendship with Candice after they competed in a brutal boxing match on the military-inspired show.

Roxy, 40, explained on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that she no longer considers Candice a friend after the women were pitted against each other in a physical fight during the season premiere of SAS Australia.

While Candice happily took several swipes at Roxy during the fight, the Sydney publicist said she refused to retaliate because of their longstanding friendship.

‘You know what? Is [Candice] really my friend anymore? No,’ Roxy raged.

‘You know why I never hit back? She’s my mate and I’m not going to smack [her] in the face for other people’s entertainment,’ she added.

You wouldn’t continue punching when the person – me – turns their back and continue punching them in the back of the head. In boxing, that’s totally not allowed. The reality is, I can’t punch my then-friend in the face for people’s entertainment.’

‘You look back and go, “F**k, I should have whacked her one,” but you know what? I’m bigger than that and I’ve got respect for other people,’ she continued.

Roxy said she reached out to Candice after filming the show in the NSW Snowy Mountains in August and tried to repair their broken friendship.

But instead of accepting the olive branch, Roxy claimed that Candice simply ‘sacked her’ as her manager instead.

‘No, she sacked me instead,’ Roxy laughed. ‘People will always let you down. I believe after what I did for Candice that it was a real smack in the face, pardon the pun.’
