Matthew McConaughey would ‘possibly’ consider doing a sequel to How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days: ‘People still love that one. I enjoyed that one quite a bit’

The romantic comedy How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days is still beloved by many, 13 years after it hit movie theaters.

And it looks like the dream of seeing the film’s main characters Andie Anderson and Benjamin ‘Ben’ Barry in a sequel could one day come true.

Matthew McConaughey, who played Ben, said he would consider doing a sequel for the film, despite swearing off doing any more rom-com films.

Kate Hudson played Andie in the beloved film, opposite Matthew.

‘Possibly. I mean, How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days is teed up, you know, teed up for the last one that you could easily do a sequel. And that was a really good one. As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one,’ according to an interview on E!’s Daily Pop.

Adding: ‘As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one. And it lasts! People still love that one. I enjoyed that one quite a bit.’

The handsome Texan spoke out his decision to stop doing romantic comedies last month.

He revealed that in 2010 he turned down $14.5 million to star in an unspecified rom-com after he spent the early 2000s in a slew of hit films from that genre, according to IndieWire.

Him turning down that paycheck paved the way for his first Oscar four years later.

His turn as Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyers Club earned him his first Oscar for Best Actor in 2014.

He starred in films such as The Wedding Planner with Jennifer Lopez, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Fool’s Gold with Kate Hudson and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Jennifer Garner between 2000 and 2009.

‘The romantic comedies remained my only consistent box office hits, which made them my only consistent incoming offers,’ the actor wrote in his Greenlights memoir.

‘For me personally, I enjoyed being able to give people a nitty-minute breezy romantic getaway from the stress of their lives where they didn’t have to think about anything, just watch the boy chase the girl, fall down, then get up and finally get her. I had taken the baton from Hugh Grant, and I ran with it,’ he added.

By the time 2010 rolled around, the actor had apparently had enough with romantic comedies, explaining why he rejected the aforementioned huge offer.

‘I declined the offer. If I couldn’t do what I wanted, I wasn’t going to do what I didn’t, no matter the price,’ the actor said.

He said to E!’s Daily Pop of saying no to the big check, he said: ‘No, I never regretted that. That was during a two-year hiatus I was taking from the romantic comedies that I’d been doing and the action-adventures I had been doing.’

Adding: ‘I was very clear… look, intellectually, that was a hard one to say “no” to. Just looking at that sheer number  — are you kidding me? Wow. But I knew I needed to remain on my sabbatical from the films I had been doing for my own soul. And so, no, I never regretted it. But boy, saying “no” to that really solidified my stance for myself. I was like, okay, I’m not, okay, I’m not breaking now.’
