Jared and Ivanka withdrew kids from school ‘after parents complained they were flouting COVID rules’

Jared and Ivanka were forced to withdraw their kids from $28k-a-year Jewish day school in DC ‘after parents complained they were flouting COVID rules by attending White House events without masks’

    • The couple’s children had attended Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School
    • On October 19 they moved them to Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy
    • It was said the move was because Berman offered more in person classes
    • But sources now say parents had expressed worries at seeing the couple attending large events without masks and with people who tested positive
    • The school is then said to have failed to reach a compromise with the couple

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump withdrew their children from the Jewish day school they attended in Washington DC after parents there reportedly voiced concerns the couple were flouting COVID-19 safety guidelines.

The couple, who have three children, had sent them to $28,400-a-year Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School since moving to the capital in 2017. On October 19 they moved them to Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy in Maryland, where fees go up to $25,270.

At the time it was said the move, shortly after Donald Trump and other White House officials tested positive for the virus, was down to the fact Berman offered more in person classes amid the ongoing pandemic.

But the Jewish Telegraphic Agency now reports how other parents had expressed worries at seeing the couple attending events in support of the president and in close contact with people who had been at functions where COVID-19 was spread.

The school is said to have failed to reach a compromise with the couple on the issue and the children were withdrawn.

A spokesman for Milton told the website: ‘They withdrew from the school.’ DailyMail.com has contacted the school for comment.

Kushner aide Avi Berkowitz said it was not true COVID guidelines had led the couple to pull their children from the school. He added: ‘The Kushners protect the privacy of their children and won’t engage in idle gossip.’

But one unnamed mom said: ‘There was concern for the safety of children because it was very clear the Kushner parents were violating public health recommendations.

‘At the same time of rising cases in the states and children going back to school, we were seeing the Kushners violating quarantine requirements.’

Amy Coney Barrett’s ceremonial nomination to the Supreme Court was said to have been one of the White House events that caused alarm. Jared and Ivanka were not thought to have been at the function but did come into close contact with those they were and later tested positive.

Ivanka was then seen maskless, along with the rest of her family, at the presidential debate in Cleveland. Days later her father, and first lady Melania tested positive.

When the president tested positive on October 2 parents are said to have also asked for details on when he had last seen the couple and their children.

In its guidelines Milton had asked that: ‘Students and families are expected to adhere to any and all social distancing guidelines and mask requirements while not on campus to minimize the risk of contracting COVID-19 as well as reducing the risk of exposing employees and/or MILTON’s students to COVID-19.

‘To help reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure at the School, the School asks all families to limit their attendance at large public or private gatherings, events, and other activities to those where social distancing can be maintained and guidance regarding masks is followed.

‘Families and students should avoid hosting or attending large gatherings where proper social distancing measures are not feasible.’

Ivanka joined her father as he commemorated Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday.

The White House senior adviser wore a protective black floral mask for the event. It’s unclear if her husband was also there.

On Saturday, former Vice President Biden was named president-elect, sparking celebration across the country. Yet, President Trump has refused to accept the results, making unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud and filing lawsuits in several states.

Ivanka has been quietly urging her father to throw in the towel and concede the election to Biden, as she sets her sights on her own future White House run, well-placed sources exclusively told DailyMail.com.

Behind the scenes, the First Daughter has been pushing for Trump and his administration to admit defeat, saying during a senior staff meeting it was an ‘honor to serve the people and people should be happy with what they accomplished.’

An insider with close ties to the Trump family explained: ‘Ivanka has her own agenda. She’s has had her eyes on the desk behind the Oval Office since day one and she’s not about to burn any bridges by mouthing off like Don Jr. who keeps lashing out on Twitter.

‘Everything she puts out is calculated and well thought out because she’s always looking at the big picture.’
