    • A speeding driver smashed into Lightning Ridge Police Station on Tuesday
    • The red Toyota Camry had crashed through a front fence and into the foyer 
    • A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody

    Shocking footage shows the aftermath of a crash where a speeding driver smashed into a police station. 

    Police at Lightning Ridge, a small outback town in north-western New South Wales, were called to their station at 5.10am on Tuesday to reports of the crash. 

    The red Toyota Camry had crashed through a front fence and careened into the foyer of the building. 

    Shocking footage shows the aftermath of a crash where a speeding driver smashed into a police station (pictured, the Toyota in the front of the station)

    The station was unmanned at the time and no injuries have been reported. 

    Footage taken after the crash shows the destruction that was left behind, with the front door and window shattered by the impact. 

    The car had also collided with the front desk, causing a huge dent and sending papers flying.  

    A 38-year-old Lightning Ridge man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody.
