Danielle Lloyd reveals she underwent operation to find the cause of her miscarriage

‘Why can I not get pregnant?’ Danielle Lloyd reveals she underwent operation to find the cause of her miscarriage and admits she’s coming to terms with never having a daughter

Danielle Lloyd has revealed she underwent an operation to determine the cause of her tragic miscarriage last year – with doctors unable to find a reason for her loss.

The former Big Brother star, 36, who was around eight weeks pregnant when she miscarried last year, had a laparoscopy in October on doctors’ advice if she wanted to begin trying for a baby again.

However the mum of four sons was left devastated when doctors could find no cause for her miscarriage – Danielle had believed it was her endometriosis – and has now given herself a deadline of a year before she will stop trying for a baby girl.

Speaking to New! Magazine, Danielle said it was her ‘dream’ to have a daughter, saying: ‘I know to some people who might not even have one child, it will sound a little bit selfish but I’d really like one more

‘I felt disheartened. It was bittersweet because obviously nobody wants anything wrong with them but I’d got it into my head that it was going to be sorted and then I could think about having a baby.

I blamed the endometriosis for my miscarriage and thought when that went, everything else would be OK. To then get the news that there’s nothing there, I thought, what is wrong then? Why can I not get pregnant, am I just getting older?’

In the wake of fertility troubles, Danielle began to experience anxiety and depression, before she had a breakdown.

The star spoke to a doctor and is now on anxiety medication.

Danielle has now been advised that she should go on the pill to help with anxiety, depression, anxiety mood swings and irregular and heavy periods – but has decided not to due to her desire for a fifth child.

Danielle, who is married to Michael O’Neill, has spoken openly about trying gender selection so the couple can have a daughter together. They share son Ronnie, three.

Danielle is also mum to three sons with ex-husband Jamie O’Hara – Archie, 10, Harry, nine, and George, seven.

The star said due to the toll on the body, the financial cost and her worry over what she would do if the procedure failed – she was still undecided on whether to proceed with gender selection, and still hoped she would fall pregnant naturally with a girl.

Danielle said the couple have discussed adoption but have differing opinions on the subject, with Danielle saying it would be ‘something I would do’ with Michael saying ‘it could be really difficult.’

In August 2019, Danielle broke her silence on her ‘devastating’ miscarriage with her fifth child, admitting she believes she was carrying a baby girl.

The TV personality told Closer magazine: ‘I really believe it was a girl. This pregnancy felt different to my others.

‘It was devastating when the miscarriage happened and I was completely heartbroken. It was devastating. I definitely need a few months to get over it and have a breather.

‘But I want to try again in the future – I really feel like I’m meant to have a girl. I’ve seen psychics who have said I’ll have one, and I really believe in all that.’

Detailing the moment she found out she miscarried, the CBB star revealed she broke down in tears when she realised she lost a lot of blood following a trip to West Midland Safari Park with Ronnie.

Danielle recently shared she’s keen on conceiving a child naturally after previously considering gender selection, but now admits she’s returned to the prospect of taking the controversial route after her ‘upsetting’ miscarriage.

Gender selection treatment has been condemned by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and is illegal in Britain.

The WHO says that sex selection raises ‘serious moral, legal, and social issues’ and can lead to the devaluation of women and gender imbalance.

She explained: ‘We thought about adoption, and that could be an option in the future. But we’re going down to gender selection route first. Michael saw how upset I was after my miscarriage, and I can’t put my body and mental health through another heartache by trying naturally.’
