Rita Ora ‘amasses £20million fortune’ after cashing in on singing career

Rita Ora ‘amasses £20million fortune’ after cashing in on singing career by signing multi-million pound advertising deals for big brands

Rita Ora has reportedly amassed a £20million fortune since she first burst onto the scene with her pop hit R.I.P, back in 2002.

The singer, 29, has only made two albums, but has managed to rake in the pounds by signing lucrative advertisement deals as well as carving a career as an actress and TV judge.

Rita’s most recent campaigns include becoming the face of JD Sports for Christmas, where she is said to have earned a six-figure sum, and she has launched a new bedding collection with Next.

With big companies clamouring to get Rita to front their advertisements, it’s little wonder that the songstress place number nine in the Sunday Times Rich list earlier this year.

A source told The Sun: ‘Rita has the magic touch when it comes to popular appeal — she’s sexy, fun and relatable.

‘It’s not just her music fanbase who follow her but people who wouldn’t listen to her songs.

”She has model looks without having that aloofness that some models have. Advertisers like that.’

MailOnline has contacted Rita’s representatives for comment.

Rita, who has the most top 10s for a British female solo artist, released her single How To Be Lonely earlier this year and currently working on her third studio album.

Rita is said to have made £750,000 for her role as Mia in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, while her stint as X Factor judge in 2015 reportedly added £1.5million to her bank balance.

The Anywhere hitmaker also starred alongside Rafferty Law in Twist, an Oliver Twist remake, which she filmed last year.

The star appeared as a judge on The Voice and earlier this year joined Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Ken Geong on The Masked Singer judging panel.

Meanwhile, she has become synonymous with many brands. In 2013 Rita signed a lucrative deal with Rimmel.

A year later she was the face of two Donna Karan 2014 collections, Resort collection and Autumn/Winter collections and the label’s fragrance, DKNY My NY.

She reportedly made £2.5million to front the fragrance’s campaign in a three-year deal.

In 2015, she appeared in Coca-Cola and Samsung Galaxy S6 advertising campaigns. She reportedly made £10million from her Coca-Cola campaign.

And last year she was the face of several German brands; luxury fashion label, Escada, and footwear retailer, Deichmann.

She is currently working with ShoeDazzle, Prospero Tequila, Thomas Sabo, JD, and EE/Apple.

The songstress also closely works with a range of charities including Greenpeace, UNICEF, and the American Foundation for AIDS research.

Rita’s eye-watering fortune is a far cry from her humble beginnings of a one-bed council flat in west London.

Speaking to the Evening Standard about her childhood, Rita said: ‘We lived in Earls Court, on the Old Brompton Road. One room for all four of us, my sister [Elena] annoying me by doing her times tables when I was trying to sleep.’

Her brother Don was born in 1998 and the family upped sticks and moved North to Kensal Rise, when her father purchased the Queen’s Arms pub in Kilburn.

According to the paper, Rita’s parents worked hard to make ends meet, with her mother studying medicine during the day and working as a waitress by night; she now works as an NHS psychiatrist.

Rita later attended the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School.

Her first forays into singing involved performing in her father’s pub. It was around this time, when Rita was 15, that her mother was struck with breast cancer. Rita stopped going to school to support her mother, who made a full recovery.

After a few cameos on Craig David, Tinchy Stryder and James Morrison’s songs, Rita hit the big time – and it’s all thanks to a certain hip hop star.

Jay-Z was introduced to a young Ora through her manager, Sarah Stennett, who also counts Ellie Goulding, Jessie J and Conor Maynard among his roster of talent.

She was signed to the music mogul’s label Roc Nation within 48 hours of her landing stateside in December 2009.

After hiding away in a recording studio in New York to perfect her vocals, Rita was unveiled to the world in 2012 singing on R.I.P featuring Tinie Tempah; the song immediately went to number one.

More smash hits followed, including How We Do, Shine Ya Light and Radioactive, as well as festival appearances and UK tours.
