Samantha Jade reveals why she ‘can’t marry’ her fiancé Pat Handlin until at least 2021 – after postponing wedding twice amid COVID-19

Samantha Jade postponed her wedding to her fiancé, the son of Sony music boss, Pat Handlin twice amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And now the singer, 33, has revealed why she hasn’t looked into rescheduling the special date again.

Speaking to Who magazine on Thursday, Samantha claimed there was a major reason she ‘can’t get married’ – her family and friends are unable to attend.

Samantha Jade has revealed why she still ‘can’t marry’ her fiancé Pat Handlin – after postponing their wedding twice amid COVID-19 this year

‘It was really upsetting [postponing her wedding], but it’s just one of those things. We were supposed to get married in October and haven’t looked at rescheduling while Western Australia remained shut,’ the former X Factor star said.

‘My mum and dad still live there [in WA] and all my childhood friends – I can’t get married without them. We’re just waiting to see what happens,’ Samantha added.

The Bounce hit-maker had found her dream wedding dress and selected a venue pretty quick after she began planning the nuptials.

The singer, who was pictured trying on wedding dresses at the Vera Wang boutique with her best friend Jules Sebastian in September, was due to tie the knot in Melbourne.

‘We got a COVID puppy which was a gift to ourselves in lieu of the wedding – if we were not getting married then we were getting a puppy,’ she told The Sydney Morning Herald last month.

The Soldier singer explained she ‘went through an anxious stage’ which helped fuel her new single, Back 2 Back.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald last moth, Samantha said: 'My wedding was meant to be next month, we found a venue that we loved and started the planning and then COVID hit'

Back in May, Samantha spoke about her wedding plans on The Morning Show and said she had put her original plans on hold due when the virus first struck.

‘I actually started the process of planning. I had a few things actually planned then had to put it all on hold because of COVID,’ she revealed.

At the time, she said that she had secured a venue for the nuptials.

'We got a COVID puppy which was a gift to ourselves in lieu of the wedding - if we were not getting married then we were getting a puppy,' she added

‘We only had one thing – we had a venue, but that is all I will say. It’s so much to plan, and I did start it,’ she said.

‘Now it’s going to be perfectly planned I guess because I’ve got a lot more time.’

The star announced her engagement to Pat in January last year.
