Kerri-Anne Kennerley reveals she  ‘could not have picked anything harder’ than stage musical Pippin

Kerri-Anne Kennerley describes ‘cruel’ training sessions for her new stage musical Pippin – and says the long hours in rehearsal have left her ‘starving’ and are ‘killing her’

Kerri-Anne Kennerley was dumped from Channel 10’s breakfast program Studio 10 three months ago.

But the 67-year-old has found a way to bounce back – by taking a role in new musical Pippin.

However, in her column for Stellar on Saturday, the TV icon revealed she could not have made things for difficult for herself with the choice.

Speaking about the rehearsal and training process, she explained that it is ‘focused and energy-consuming.’

‘It’s full-on physically and stage-wise I don’t think I could have picked anything harder, to be quite frank,’ Kerri-Anne admitted.

She even referred to the workouts for the show as ‘cruel,’ writing: ‘You’ve got to get really strong core work to do this, and I didn’t realise there were so many cruel exercises to strengthen your core. I’ve been doing them all.’

The long hours, from 10am till 6pm many days, leave her ‘starving’ she wrote.

‘The back of my legs from literally hanging upside-down on the trapeze are killing me today. And I’m starving right now. We’ve worked all morning and I’m starving!’

Kerri-Anne made a visit to her old stomping ground of Studio 10 earlier this month to promote her role in the show.

‘It’s almost killing me but so much fun! We have the most brilliant acrobats, the most fabulous dancers,’ she explained.

Kerri-Anne will be joining the cast of stage musical Pippin, which opens at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney next month.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford shared the news on The Morning Show in October, saying that Kerri-Anne has been cast in the role of Grandma Berthe.

In the popular musical, an acrobatic troupe tells the story of Pippin, a man who longs to find passion and adventure in his life.
