Fresh twist in police fight with bikini-clad girls in a Melbourne park as new footage shows they were pepper sprayed after one was floored by a swift kick

  • New footage has emerged of a police officer pepper-spraying two girls
  • The pair and a man were arguing in the park at Melbourne’s St Kilda Beach
  • Video released on Monday showed a cop kicking one of the girls to the grass
  • The same officer also pepper-sprayed the girls who approached him

Shocking new footage has emerged of a police officer pepper-spraying two girls after video showed her being kicked to the ground by the same cop.

Two 16-year-olds and a shirtless man were arguing in the park at Melbourne‘s St Kilda Beach on Sunday afternoon.

One woman was being restrained by the man wrapped in a towel while the other woman marched directly towards a Victoria Police officer.

‘Oh my god go f**k yourself,’ she yelled at him.

As the screaming woman approached the officer he lifted up his right leg and delivered a swift kick to her stomach, instantly knocking her to the ground.

But fresh unseen footage taken by different witnesses shows the same officer pepper-spray both girls seconds after the kick.

The video showed a woman in a bikini scuffling with a man, before the second woman in black approached the cop and was kicked to the ground.

The bikini-clad girls then charged towards the officer, prompting him to pepper-spray both of them.

One of them approached the officer again, and was sprayed a second time.

Victoria Police told Daily Mail Australia the pair were reportedly intoxicated and harassing other members of the public.

‘One of the girls approached an officer in a threatening manner, she did not stop when he asked her to,’ police said.

‘The action used by the officer is deemed appropriate in relation to the aggressive behaviour by the female.

‘The girls continued to act in an aggressive manner so the officer deployed OC foam to subdue them.’

Police said a 16-year-old from Selby and a 16-year-old from Marysville were arrested for drunken behaviour and released to their parents.

The first video, which initially just showed the police officer kicking the woman in black, made headlines on Monday.

Shocked onlookers were heard yelling in the background of the clip.

Park-goer Sage Dre happened to capture the footage on her way to the beach and said the reason for the argument had been unclear.

‘The couple at the start of the video were having an altercation and the guy was trying to calm his girlfriend down,’ she explained.

‘She was going to start going at the cop and that’s when that girl stomped past and towards the cop and that’s when he kicked her.’

She said ‘everyone was just shocked’ at how the events unfolded.

‘The lady was screaming her head off yelling out names,’ Ms Dre explained.

‘The cop obviously felt threatened when she was stomping towards him so he kicked her.

‘She got arrested after, I’m not really sure how it started, she was intoxicated.’
