The Bachelor’s Arie Luyendyk Jr. says he ‘tested positive for COVID’ as he sits on the opposite side of a long table from his family for Thanksgiving
This year’s holiday season is looking to be a little different, to say the least, and that’s the case for this reality star family.
The race car driver, 39, appeared on his Instagram Stories at the end of a long table outside, with his wife Lauren Burnham and their daughter Alessi Ren seated at the far end opposite him.
On Thursday: Arie Luyendyk Jr. of The Bachelor and Bachelorette fame took to his Instagram to reveal that he had recently tested positive for COVID-19
‘Many of you have been wondering … why we’ve been so absent on social media and why I’m sitting, like, 25 feet away from the girls,’ Arie said, as he showed the distance between him and his family.
‘It’s because I actually tested positive for COVID … like, nine days ago. Tomorrow I get to go in and see if I’m all clear. It’s been rough, I’ve gotta say. It’s not been easy.’
The television hunk did indeed sound somewhat congested as he spoke.

On the bottom of the video, he wrote a caption which said ‘Tested positive for Covid and it’s been a rough 9 days’.
As for how they’ve been managing, Arie explained that he’s been keeping his distance from his wife Lauren, 29, and their 18-month-old daughter Alessi.
‘I’ve been on the other side of the house. Lauren has been really sweet,’ Luyendyk continued.

‘She’s been keeping me fed. She just slides some food outside and then I go get it,’ he added, smirking.
‘Thanksgiving 2020 has been different,’ Arie wrote in a subsequent Instagram Story on Thursday, waving to his wife and daughter from the other side of the long dinner table on their patio.
They called out to one another, ‘I love you’ and Luyendyk Jr. called out to his little daughter, ‘I’m so thankful for you’.

Before proposing to first runner-up Burnham, Luyendyk Jr. was briefly engaged to that season’s winner Becca Kufrin.
But the pair canceled their engagement during a televised breakup after The Bachelor season finale, in 2018.

And after getting married, Luyendyk Jr. and Burnham welcomed their daughter in May 2019.
Subsequently, the pair suffered a miscarriage this past spring, when on May 30, Lauren and Arie revealed they had lost their second pregnancy.
They said there were signs of problems from early on, when the baby was estimated to be ‘eight weeks along’ but only looked to be about five weeks old.
‘We were really confused by that,’ Lauren later shared.

‘But our doctor assured us that it could be a number of things and not to panic about it. It could mean I’m just not as far as long as I was, it could mean I ovulated less, or it could mean that it’s not a viable pregnancy.’
The two monitored the pregnancy, but the fetus continued to develop slower than normal.
And on May 28, Lauren learned she had suffered from a missed miscarriage, which is what happens when ‘the embryo dies without your knowledge, and you don’t deliver.’
