China attacks Australia with vile fake image of soldier holding a knife to the throat of an Afghan child in shocking reference to ‘war crimes’ report

China has attacked Australia over war crimes allegations by posting a falsified image on Twitter showing an Aussie soldier holding a knife to the throat of an Afghan child.

Lijian Zhao, deputy director of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Information Department, posted the fake image on Monday, writing: ‘Shocked by murder of Afghan civilians and prisoners by Australian soldiers. We strongly condemn such acts, and call for holding them accountable.’

The image showed a smiling soldier in Australian uniform covering a child, who is holding a sacrificial lamb, with the Aussie flag alongside the sarcastic caption: ‘Don’t be afraid, we are coming to bring you peace!’

Scott Morrison slammed the post and said he has asked China and Twitter to remove it.

‘The Chinese government should be totally ashamed of this post. It diminishes them in the world’s eyes. We are seeking an apology… for this outrageous post. We are seeking its removal,’ he said.
