    A woman has died and three other people including a young child have been injured after violence broke out at a southeast Melbourne home.

    The woman was found with critical wounds at a Narre Warren property about 1pm on Monday. 

    The woman later died in hospital, police said. 

    Police arrested a man believed to be in his 40s at the scene who is also being treated for serious injuries. 

    One of those found injured in the Springvalley Way property is understood to be a three-year-old girl who is now in a stable condition.

    The girl were taken to hospital, along with the man who was arrested at the scene.

    He remains under police guard.

    Homicide detectives on Monday were seen combing the home for evidence, with a 150m-long police cordon on the road stopping neighbours from going into their homes. 

    Authorities are not looking for anyone else over the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
