King continued: ‘Since COVID-19 was introduced to our community in early 2020, Carlos, a board certified Critical care/Pulmonary/Internal medicine/Sleep physician, has been at the forefront of the fight against this novel virus.
‘I have been Carlos’ Nurse Practitioner for nearly eight years now, and in the beginning of the pandemic, when I was terrified for both of us due to the high risk of exposure, I said to Carlos, ‘Baby, aren’t you worried about being around COVID-19 patients? Aren’t you afraid?’ In response, Carlos said to me, ‘Love! Are you kidding me? I’m not afraid!!! I was BORN for this!’
King went on to explain that she was comforted by her husband’s heroism and selflessness even as she ‘struggle to come to terms with the fact that the love of my life is no longer here with me on this earth’.
‘I love you, Baby. You were an exceptional man, and I am so lucky to have called you my own. I promise to live my life with your greatness in my heart,’ she emotionally wrote.
