Charlie Sheen reunites with Red Dawn castmates C. Thomas Howell and Darren Dalton nearly four-decades after Cold War cult classic’s release

Charlie Sheen made his feature film debut with the action hit Red Dawn in 1984.

And the lifelong actor, 55, proved he still has a soft spot for the project as he reunited with castmates C. Thomas Howell and Darren Dalton in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The Two And A Half Men star had some pep in his step during the morning meet-up, looking happy and healthy while donning his signature sunglasses and black duds to hang out.

Rare outing: Charlie Sheen enjoyed a rare public outing on Wednesday when he was seen meeting up with his Red Dawn castmates C. Thomas Howell and Darren Dalton a full 37-years

Charlie pet a dog before heading inside a residence with a leather satchel in arm.

Elsewhere was C. Thomas Howell, who looked dapper in a crisp white shirt and tan fedora. Blue jeans and a bit of salt and pepper stubble completed the look on a laid back note.

Darren also kept casual in a blue tee shirt, jeans, and clean white sneakers.

Of course the reunion wasn’t quite complete without castmate Patrick Swayze, who passed away in 2009 after a private battle with cancer.

Red Dawn is considered a cult classic, an unintentionally campy imagining of a Cold War-era invasion of America by Soviet troops through the eyes of teens.

The story follows a group of American high school students who resist the occupation with guerrilla warfare, naming themselves The Wolverines, after their high school mascot.

Along with Sheen, Howell, and Dalton the film starred then-unknowns Lea Thompson, Jennifer Grey, Ben Johnson, Harry Dean Stanton, Ron O’Neal, William Smith, and Powers Boothe.

Red Dawn was a relative box office success, ranking as the 20th highest-grossing film of 1984 with a domestic take of around $38million.

But it was far from a critical success, with Rotten Tomatoes aggregators now describing the action romp, saying, ‘An appealing ensemble of young stars will have some audiences rooting for the Wolverines, but Red Dawn’s self-seriousness can never conceal the silliness of its alarmist concept.’

Reflecting on the project in 1987, Sheen had a harsh read on director John Milius.

Not a fan: Just three years after the film’s release, Sheen slammed the project and director John Milius for the ‘comic book’ of a movie

He told Entertainment Tonight: ‘The film is such a comic book, it was such a great concept on paper but I think if Milius had paid more attention to his actors than his tank we might’ve had something. I thought it was detrimental to the final outcome of the film.’

Red Dawn has found a fanbase in far-right circles for its anti-communist narrative, however.

Upon its release the Gun Owners of America announced that they were honoring Milius for ‘dramatically depicting the importance in our time of the Second Amendment.’

And in 2013 the conservative publication National Review Online naming with #15 on its list of the Best Conservative Movies.
