And the GUEST wore white! ‘Attention-seeking’ woman is slammed for wearing a slinky ivory gown to someone else’s wedding
- Anonymous person, from US, shared snap of wedding guest wearing white gown
- Told how woman, who recently tied knot herself, wore dress to friend’s big day
- Wedding guest was branded an ‘attention seeker’ by angry Reddit users
A wedding guest has been branded ‘attention seeking’ for wearing a floor-length white gown to her friend’s big day.
Taking to Reddit, an anonymous person, believed to be from the US, shared a snap of the guest in the offending long dress, which closely resembled a bridal gown, and penned: ‘A girl I went to college with attended a wedding in this. She got married recently so you’d think she’d understand the dos and don’ts.’
And with many aware of the unwritten rule that only the bride should turn up to her own wedding in white, it wasn’t long before the angry comments started.
‘I would have turned her away at the door,’ wrote one, while a second commented: ‘It’s all for attention. They can’t stand that people aren’t paying attention to them.’

Taking to the comments section, one person wrote: ‘It’s all for attention. They can’t stand that people aren’t paying attention to them’ (pictured)
A third joked: ‘It came with like a white, tulle headdress but she thought it overwhelmed the gown so she decided not to wear it.’
The post garnered hundreds of comments – with several even saying they’d be inclined to pour a glass of red wine down the gown.
‘Are you sure it didn’t come with a giant red wine stain? Cause it’s asking for one,’ wrote one, while a second commented: ‘Or if you don’t do that, put one of your bridesmaids on wine-spilling duty.’
And many had similar suggestions as to why the wedding guest, who had recently tied the knot herself, decided to wear white.
Some who took to the comments section suggested the woman in question could’ve saved herself the backlash if she’d simply dyed the elegant gown a different color (pictured)
‘She wore this BECAUSE she got married recently. She wants people to know,’ wrote one.
A second who agreed added: ‘My thought exactly. It’s way too mundane to just be someone’s wife, don’t you know. She wants to continue being bride-like! Me, me, ME! Sad.’
Others who took to the comments section suggested the woman in question could’ve saved herself the backlash if she’d simply dyed the elegant gown a different color.
Some critics claimed the woman couldn’t get over that she was no longer the bride-to-be
‘I could possibly get on board with it if it was knee length, white a different color, blazer over it, but that is very much a wedding dress she’s wearing. Wtf,’ wrote one, while another commented: ‘She could have had dyed. A pink, beige, light blue.. something.’
Elsewhere, others defended the wedding guest entirely and didn’t see a problem with her outfit of choice.
‘This is not a wedding dress. It’s a white floor length gown. It’s very different,’ penned one, while another wrote: ‘What’s the big deal?’
