Huobi Global’s virtual currency HTX has issued a 250 Ether and verified the restitution of the money that a hacker took in late September.
On September 25, HTX lost 5,000 ETH, or almost $8 million, from one of its hot wallets. The company got in touch with the hacker soon after it happened and said it knew who they were.
In the end, HTX promised not to pursue legal action and to pay a 5% reward, or around $400,000. This was contingent upon them returning 95% of the monies by October 2.

The third quarter of 2023 has seen an increase in hacker activity. A new analysis from the blockchain security platform Immunefi states that in Q3 2023, there were 76 breaches on Web3 and cryptocurrency projects and businesses, as opposed to 30 in Q3 2022.
The decentralised cross-chain protocol Mixin Network was also compromised for around $200 million the same week as HTX was, following an intrusion by hackers into a third-party cloud service provider.
If they returned the money, Mixin Network promised a $20 million bug bounty; nevertheless, there’s not much chance of receiving the money back.
