Blockchain detectives discovered that $27 million worth of USDT had been taken from a hot wallet linked to the Binance deployer address by an unidentified victim.

Over the weekend, a hacker gained access to a hot wallet that appeared to be linked to the deployer address of cryptocurrency exchange Binance. The attacker took off with millions of dollars’ worth of USDT stablecoin.

Transactions discovered by anonymous blockchain expert ZachXBT indicate that the victim’s hot wallet was hacked on November 11 at about 4:36 p.m. The hacker swiftly exchanged the stablecoins for Ether (ETH) after stealing $27 million worth of USDT.

After that, the hacker moved the cash to websites such as FixedFloat and ChangeNow and used THORChain to bridge them back to Bitcoin.

ZachXBT discovered that transaction history going back to May 2019 suggests a connection between the victim’s account and the Binance deployer address.

“They’ll presumably send the money to a dubious provider or put it in a mixer next. ZachXBT said, “OTCs are frequent to take significant quantities off chain (will be later on once monies have been laundered).

Data released by blockchain security company Peckshield indicates that the Poloniex exchange’s hot wallet was breached last week, stealing an estimated $125 million. Poloniex investor Justin Sun later verified this in a tweet.

Blockchain information reveals that 357 distinct transactions were made with the stolen money via the hacker’s Ethereum wallet. Additionally, the hacker purchased almost $20 million worth of TRX, the native token of Tron, raising its value by more than 20% for the day.
